A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 21, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home Chapel for Orville Dean Ardoin, 71, who passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette. Entombment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum in Lafayette.
Reverend Father Tim Richard, pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church, will conduct the services.
Mr. Ardoin was born September 7, 1936. He was a native of Basile, Louisiana and was a long-time resident of Lafayette. Orville graduated from Basile High School in 1954, and S.L.I., now U.L.L., in 1958 with a degree in Geology. He worked for various oil-related companies until Conoco, where he was employed for 31 years and worked in Dubai, Holland and Jakarta, Indonesia. Orville was a member of St. Edmond Catholic Church in Lafayette. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather, and will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Orville leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Jeanette Darbonne Ardoin; two daughters, Angela Gaspard and her husband Richie, of Eunice, and Lydia Cutchens and her husband Johnnie, of Conway, Arkansas; one daughter-in-law, Laura Ardoin, of Lafayette; one brother Joseph C. Ardoin and his wife Beverly, of Lafayette; three grandsons, Michael Venable, of Lafayette, and Wesley and Dylan Gaspard, both of Eunice; and three granddaughters, Danielle Venable, of Lafayette, and Allison and Courtney Ardoin, also of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elridge Ardoin, of Basile, Louisiana, and the former Elmae LeJeune, of Iota, Louisiana, and his son Brice Ardoin.
The family requests that visiting hours at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home be observed from 10:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2007, and to continue at 8:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2007 until time of services.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, September 20, 2007, in the funeral home chapel.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Ardoin’s family members Paul Ardoin, Johnnie Cutchens, Dylan Gaspard, Richie Gaspard, Wesley Gaspard, and Michael Venable, II.
