Dave was born Monday, February 9, 1942 in Detroit, MI and was a resident of Acadiana for more than 50 years. During his long career in broadcasting, Dave enjoyed meeting people and designing “packages” for selling advertising on radio and television. Before his lengthy illness, he was an avid golfer and loved following UL sports teams, especially football, basketball and baseball. He was a devoted listener of the sports talk shows on KPEL radio. For the last several years, he enjoyed working for his son at the window of Acadiana’s Crawfish Express and negotiating contracts for crawfish boils around the U.S. Most of all, Dave loved spending time with his family, meeting his new grandson, and helping his first grade granddaughter do homework and read.

Mr. Wenger is survived by his wife of 44 years, Madeline Provost Wenger of Lafayette; a daughter, Kathryn Wenger Facchiano; a son, David Wenger; two grandchildren, Devon Wenger and Nathan Facchiano; a sister, Sarah Wenger Hayes; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in David's name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, ; or St. Jude’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105,
